110715 Rifle Range Road, Nangka trail

Went for a short trip with Nicky and Steven to look for our larger mygalomorphs. Got cut short by rain but we still managed to see some interesting things.

Amblypygi. The other green amblypygid was still on the same tree as well, deep in a crack.

IMG_6208s
This beetle-like insect is actually a true bug (Hemiptera).

IMG_6211s
Katydid.

IMG_6219s
Fascinating caterpillar.

IMG_6224s
Phasmid.

IMG_6230s
Red springtails seem to be quite common on this trail.

IMG_6231s
Strange worm. It seemed to have a row of eyes on each side of the head.

Nicky pointed out the log with the longhorn beetles (Epepeotes luscus).

IMG_6249s
The longhorn seemed disturbed by my phototaking and flew onto my shirt. I disturbed it again to get it off and it flew onto my pant leg. Guess it likes clothes...

IMG_6250s
Scutigera centipede. Defecating?

IMG_6253s
Strange looking cockroach.

IMG_6240s
Another cockroach spotted by Nicky who noticed its eyes were blue.

IMG_6184s
A couple of sparassids.

IMG_6235s
Tiny spider in a small hollow on a tree trunk.

IMG_6239s
Not particularly good ant mimic Corinnidae? This one was large, about 12 mm long.

IMG_6257s
Pandercetes lichen huntsman.

IMG_6259s
Nicky noticed a tangled web under a leaf full of baby spiders. This photo showed only about a quarter of it.

Lol, they're really tiny tho, about 1+ mm long each. Thanks for dropping by :)
