100912 Kusu Island

Numerous Stichodactyla gigantea and Heteractis magnifica were seen today.

Dendrodoris denisoni.

Heteractis magnifica.

100912kusu-IMG_0171
A tiny yet gravid shrimp, seen here next to a more typically sized shrimp.

My presence spooked quite a few tropical silversides who in their panic flopped onto a Stichodactyla gigantea and promptly got trapped.

100912kusu-IMG_0226
Sentinel crab.

100912kusu-IMG_0235
Stichodactyla gigantea swamped with seaweed.

100912kusu-IMG_0275
Stichodactyla haddoni that was magically cleared of seaweed.

100912kusu-IMG_0242
Sea pen.

100912kusu-IMG_0245
Chicoreus torrefactus. I checked, this was a live snail, not a hermit crab.

100912kusu-IMG_0239
Ghost crab that was hiding among the seaweed.

100912kusu-IMG_0261
No idea what this lump is, or even if it is a complete organism or simply a part that broke off.

100912kusu-IMG_0278
Moon snail. Around it were a shrimp and two polyps.

100912kusu-IMG_0283
Strombus urceus with quite a long spire.

100912kusu-IMG_0291
Pegasus volitans (seamoth) spotted by Kok Sheng.

Hi

may I know how the time/tide conditions were when you were there? I went during low spring tide and didn't manage to see much
