100703 Lower Peirce Reservoir

Been quite a while since my last visit here. Many scorpions as usual. Saw two fairly large house centipedes this time as well, among other things.

whip spider
Whip spider (Argyrodes/Ariamnes).

Orthoptera
Intricately patterned cricket.

Orthoptera
Very tiny cricket.

Thomisidae
Chun Fong spotted this highly camouflaged crab spider (Thomisidae). It was so well camouflaged that I had to take the photo blind, just knowing where it was but could not actually see it.

house centipede
House centipede.

scorpion

scorpion
Scorpions (Lychas scutilus?), there were many, all very easily spotted along this trail. The lower scorpion seemed to have recently tangled with some organism with scales.

bristletail
Bristletail. Interesting eye configuration. Read more about bristletails on The Annotated Budak.

Spider with a cluster of ant or termite carcasses in its web.

moth
Chun Fong spotted this beautiful moth resting under a leaf.

Opiliones
Fairly large Opiliones with only 5 legs consuming something I did not recognize. It was intent on finishing its meal and did not retreat even when I touched a leg, it merely raised the leg and continued to sit there.
