This Changi shore is the place to spot sea cucumbers. Many Colochirus quadrangularis, Holothuria notabilis and smooth sea cucumbers among others :

Orange Cucumariidae.

Holothuria notabilis.

Smooth sea cucumber.

Holothuria scabra.

Phyllophorus sp..

Kok Sheng found this see through sea cucumber (Paracaudina australis) drifting around.

Cercodemas anceps.
Other Echinoderms :

Cake sand dollar (Arachnoides placenta) and pink sand dollar (Peronella lesueuri).

Salmacis sp..

Pencil urchins (Prionocidaris sp.) were in season.

Large numbers of juvenile biscuit stars (Goniodiscaster scaber).

A few painted sand stars (which Mei Lin suggested to be Astropecten vappa). There were many Astropecten indicus as well.
The most interesting finds of the day, two juvenile knobblies :

Other wildlife :


A few sea pens (Pennatulacea).

Razor clam. After being spotted, it promptly buried itself in the sand.


This hermit crab (Paguroidea) seems to have just molted. It's shell housing appears to have numerous polyps clustered at the opening.

Geographic sea hares (Syphonota geographica). There were a few.

Large Cymbiola nobilis (15 cm long).

Small Cymbiola nobilis (2 cm long). Interesting to note the spiral tip is the same size as an adult's.

Hammer oyster (Malleus sp.). Apparently a new record for this shore.

Stone crab (Myomenippe hardwickii).

Peachia anemone. There were many.

Stichodactyla haddoni. It looked quite stressed.

Mei Lin spotted this anemone anchored in the sand, perhaps to a buried rock.

Unknown polyp. Cerianthid? There were many.

Chay Hoon spotted the first of these Gymnodoris nudibranchs. A total of 3 were found.

Kok Sheng spotted this beautiful flatfish (Pardachirus pavoninus).

Pipefish. There were many.
