100528 Pulau Tekukor

Tekukor's main attraction is its formidable population of zoanthids. It also has a good number of nudibranchs, slugs and fish among others.

Various types of zoanthids carpet the shore extensively. Many organisms can be found among them...

octopus...

soft coral (Alcyonacea)...

filefish...

shrimp...

The Bryopsis cover was also quite extensive and many organisms make their home there :

Amphipods...

Elysia ornata...

spider crab...

Bryopsis slugs...

tiny Jorunna funebris...

Carpet eel blenny.

Tekukor is also home to a variety of crabs :

Spoon pincer crab.

Mosaic crab (Lophozozymus pictor).

Scylla (which appeared to have freshly consumed an egg crab Atergatis floridus).

Hairy crab (Pilumnidae).

Swimming crabs (Thalamita sp.).

And other tiny crabs.

Flatworms :

Acanthozoon sp..

Tiny brown flatworm.

Pseudoceros sp..

The fish :

These long spined scorpionfish seem to be in season. They were everywhere.

Juvenile rabbitfish were also plentiful.

Goby.

Flathead.

Painted scorpionfish (Parascorpaena picta).

This shrimp has caught itself an amphipod.

Some of the snapping shrimp were actively crawling about.

Soft leathery coral (Alcyoniidae).

My first good look at one of the extremely shy brittlestars that inhabit the small burrows (the tentacles are often the only thing we see of them).

Geraldine found this Thuridilla gracilis.

As usual, Chay Hoon finds the interesting nudis :

Bornella stellifer. The gills can be seen at the base of the cerata.

Chromodoris fidelis.

Large numbers of Holothuria leucospilota can be found at this shore.

Hairy sea hare.

Favid coral with emerged polyps.

Half bleached Scleractinia. Some of the other coral were also bleached. Hopefully they will recover.
